Sunday night pitch process

We run a tight ship Sunday night, and we want to put on a good show. Here are some resources, rules, and more to help you succeed with your pitch.

Pitching rules & regulations

5 minutes to pitch + 3 minutes for questions

We have a lot of pitches to get through, so JDM will be enforcing time pretty strictly.

Note that the time is not cumulative. If you finish your pitch early, still only get 3 minutes for questions.

Questions will come exclusively from the judging panel. We will not be fielding audience questions.

Decks must be in Google Slides.

PowerPoint, Keynote, PDF, etc, are not allowed.

Share your deck by 4pm

You must add JDM as an editor no later than 4pm, or you do not pitch.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Hit the blue “share” button in the upper right.
  2. You’ll get a dialog window like the one below.
  3. Change the settings under “People with access” to add JDM as an “editor”.

Email: jdm@rightbox.co (notice it's not dot com)

Mandatory tech check @ 4:30

If you miss tech check, you do not pitch.

  • We will do a “tech check” at 4:30pm on Sunday to ensure there are no issues.
  • Anyone talking into the mic (during pitch or Q&A) must attend.
  • Anyone controlling the slides clicker must attend.

Pitching resources

Curious about pitching in general, what slides you need, what other startups have done, or want a template?
